The Good

Blossoming Heart is a short poetry collection about self-validation and affirmations which are simply beautiful. Fida Islaih does not mess around with self-love, she asks the reader to sit with their hearts and grow from the darkest days. I also adore the cover art for Blossoming Heart, it is almost as if the blossoming heart has been picked as it is ready to take on life once more.

However…

The collection is rather short, much to my dismay. In addition, I felt there were too many sections separating the poems which, I felt, disconnected the poems from Islaih’s main concept: growth. I feel that growth is something gradual where the stages melt into one another. Although, there can be clear moments where you feel you have grown in your life.

Why did I read it?

Blossoming Heart is an incredible title for a poetry collection about finding self-love again. I came across Fida’s work through a Tumblr masterpost which recommended her collection.

Does the author have other works?

Fida Islaih has released quite a few poetry collections: Her Olives, A to Z Poetry, Hugs & Kisses, Smile Back, and Her Treasures. According to her Goodreads profile, she will be releasing two more poetry collections, so please check them out and add them to your to-be-read list.

Overall…

I was inspired by Fida’s short poetry collection. You will be healed in one sitting. I cannot wait to read more of her work.
