The BRILLIANT

This is why I love poetry. I instantly connected to this poetry collection, in particular, the sections ‘longing’, ‘chaos’, and ‘epiphany’. The title of K. Y. Robinson’s collection is apt as it is a beautiful chaos of emotions ranging from despair to hope. It is quite a journey, a journey that I connected by ‘longing’.

that stench

of the death

of innocence.

i still remember

that smell

twenty-three

years later.

However…

I wish the collection contained some trigger warnings for the sexually explicit imagery.

Why did I read it?

I connected instantly to the title. The Chaos of Longing is poetic by itself.

Does the author have other works?

Not at the moment, but as Robinson recently joined Andrews McMeel Publishing, a second revised and expanded edition of The Chaos of Longing will be released in September 2017.

Overall…

Robinson’s words flow so powerfully and painfully through the fabric of love and loss. This is one of my favourites that I will re-read throughout my life. I cannot wait to see what the new edition will have in store!
